Call for Paper: THE ANCIENT PORT-CITIES IN VIETNAM: A MULTIDISCIPLINARY VIEW

We are now inviting paper presentation proposals for the 2nd SEAMEO SPAFA International Conference in Southeast Asian Archaeology. Presentations are meant to be 15-20 minutes long (depending on the panel’s convener). Proposals will be assessed and accepted until February 2016.

Panel: THE ANCIENT PORT-CITIES IN VIETNAM: A MULTIDISCIPLINARY VIEW

Vietnam occupies a long coast of roughly 2000 km. Historically, the country is located on the international maritime trade route linking India and China; it was also the crossroad between Mainland and Island Southeast Asia. During the last decades, there have been plenty of important archaeological findings in the port-cities/polities along the coast belonged to different cultures and historical periods including Dong Son/Dai Viet, Sa Huynh/Champa, OcEo/Funan-Chenla and so on. The panel will collect papers from multidiscipline of geographical culture, underwater archaeology, landscape archaeology, history and art history will be represented by the researchers who did surveys on these sites.
